CHAPTER 6

"Morning Catherine, so this is where you were last night. Grissom said it was

a family emergency," Greg said trying not to laugh.

"Before we have this conversation, I have to use the bathroom," I said grabbing my purse as I heard laughter as the door shut.  I ran into Sasha on the way back. "Sasha, I want to apologize for falling asleep after visiting hours," I explained.

"Miss Willows, it's not a big deal. Sara needs interaction with people that know her. As head nurse, I can do things that I deem good for my patients," she said.

"Thank you, and please call me Catherine," I said smiling.

"I checked on you this morning and noticed you holding hands," Sasha said smiling.

"Sara wanted me to hold her hand until she fell asleep. Our friend Greg saw it too before I left. I have a feeling that will be the topic of conversation when I get back," I said starting to chuckle.

I walked back into the room, and Greg was in the chair with his legs crossed.

"What's he doing?" I asked  as Sara shrugged her shoulders.

"So, I'm not the only one who knows now about you two now," Greg said.

"No, Sara told Grissom last night, and I told Nick a couple days ago," I explained.

“So that leaves Warrick as the only one who doesn't know," Greg said as the

door opened.

"Warrick doesn't know what?" he asked scaring the crap out of me.

"That Sara and I used to date," I said.

"I knew, but not for the reasons you think," Warrick said kissing Sara's cheek.

"How did you find out?" I asked sitting down on the bed.

"You two may have been able to hide from everyone else, but I noticed things. You both were really happy, and there were little things I caught every now and then. I figured as

long as it disrupt you work, it was none of my business," Warrick explained.

"Well, that just leaves my talk with Grissom being the only thing to worry

about," I said.

"It's probably just going to be a lecture about inter-office relations," Greg said.

"I don't see him having a problem with it. I mean even after you broke up, your work never suffered," Warrick added.

"Thanks guys," I said. Warrick and Greg gave us both hugs before they left.

"Morning ladies, how are you feeling today Sara?" Sasha asked checking her

vitals.

"Okay, but I'm a little stiff though," Sara answered.

"Don't worry, couple more days and we can start physical therapy," she said winking at me as she left.

"Catherine, can I ask a favor?" Sara inquired nervously smiling.

"Sara, we're friends. You can ask me anything," I replied touching her hand.

"Can you kiss me," she said.

"Are you sure?" I asked as Sara nodded. I stood up, walked over

to the bed, and put my hand behind her neck and passionately kissed her.

"Wow, that was amazing," Sara said as I blushed. "

Thank you, but why did you want to kiss me?" I asked.

"I wanted to see if it did anything for my memory," she explained.

"Sara that's sweet, but you do realize that if your memory comes back. You're liable be angry with me," I said.

"Maybe, but I will also remember that you have helped me out the past couple

days, and I know it's because you love me," Sara said.

"I hope so," I said wiping away a tear.

"Since we're talking about it, can you tell me about the fight?" she asked.

"I don't know if that's such a good idea," I replied.

"If you do, I'll let you kiss me again," Sara said smiling.

"You may reconsider after hearing this," I said. I told her how we think it happened, but

didn't have the evidence to back it up. We only got the suspects on rinky-dink

charges. I took a deep breath before telling her about the fight.

I starting crying after telling the hurtful things we said to each other. I felt Sara's hand cup my chin.

"Catherine look at me, are you sorry for what you said?" she asked.

"Yes, god yes, I was sorry right after I said it when I saw the hurt look on your face," I said tucking hair behind her ear.

"Catherine come here," Sara said as I leaned towards her. She gave me a

tender kiss on my lips.

"Ahem," Lindsay said behind us. I turned around blushing at my giggling daughter.

"Mom, care to explain?" Lindsay asked.

"Bribery," Sara chimed in.

"What does that mean?" she questioned.

"Sara offered me a kiss if I told her a story," I said not mentioning the

topic.

"Grownups are weird," Lindsay said laughing.

"I'll show you weird," I said picking her and tickling her.

"Lindsay was making fun of you again, wasn't she?" Nancy asked coming in.

"No, I caught them kissing and called them weird," Lindsay explained.

    "Really, kissing," Nancy said smiling.

"Guys in Catherine's defense, I was the one who wanted to be kissed," Sara said.

"So we're back to the way it was. You two against Lindsay," Nancy said starting to laugh.

I thought about what she said and started to laugh too.

CHAPTER 7

"Sara, I'll be back in the morning after I drop off Lindsay at school," I

said kissing her.

"Catherine, you should sleep in your own bed," Sara said.

"While you're in here, that is my bed. Here is my cell number if you need

anything," I said touching her hand before leaving.

The drive to the lab was fine, and I was ready for whatever Gil was going to

say. There really wasn't anything he could do considering Sara and I are no

longer dating. I dropped my stuff off in my locker when Greg walked in.

"So how did it go after I left?" he asked smiling.

"Well, we kissed. She asked me to tell her about the breakup, and we kissed

again," I answered smiling.

"What does that mean?" Greg inquired.

"I don't know, but I'm going to take care of her until she gets better," I said.

"Okay then, I let you get to your inquisition," he said as I hugged him.

I walked to Grissom's office and saw that his door was open. "Shut the door

and have a seat," he said seriously. We sat there silently staring at one another.

"Gil, I think you should go see Sara. I think she would like that," I said.

"Will you be there?" he asked.

"I am sleeping there, but I don't have to be around when you talk to her," I

said.

"Why are you sleeping there?" Gil asked.

"Her girlfriend, Robin, left after Sara woke up. My guess is she couldn't handle the fact that Sara didn't remember anything, and I don't want her to feel abandoned," I said welling up.

"Thank you Catherine, I have what I wanted to know. I'm glad Sara has you to

take care of and protect her. The only thing I ask is that to be told if you two

start dating again. Tonight's slow so go take care of Sara, I'll call if I need

you," Gil said touching my arm.

I ran to the locker room to collect my stuff and hurried out to my car.

I pulled into the hospital parking lot, and I had just shut my door when my

phone rang. I looked and saw it was the hospital.

"Sara, is everything okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, I just wanted to hear your voice before going to bed," Sara said

    "Sweet dreams Sara,"

    "Thank you Catherine, bye,"

    "Bye,"

I know I should have told her I was coming up, but that would ruin the

surprise. I ran into Sasha on the way to Sara's room.

"Evening Catherine, aren't you suppose to be at work?" she asked.

"I am. Gil sent me here to take care of Sara, but I'm on call if he needs me. I do need a favor from you though. I was wondering if you could wake me at six-thirty. I have to take Lindsay to school," I explained.

"Sure no problem, now go take care of that girl of yours," Sasha said smiling.

I opened up the door and saw Sara's head on the pillow looking peaceful.

"Now what do you need?" Sara asked angrily.

"Just bringing a little TLC," I said.

"Catherine, what are you doing here? Gil didn't suspend you did he," she asked.

"I'm here to take care of you, boss' orders, and no I didn't get suspended. I

told that I had been taking care of you, and he didn't care about our past

relationship. Although, he did tell me to inform him the next time we start

dating. Go back to sleep, I'll be here when you wake up," I said kicking off my

shoes and lying down.

The next thing I know Sasha is waking me up. I checked my phone and noticed I

didn't miss any calls. I put my shoes on and looked at Sara sleeping peaceful.

Sasha handed me a cup of coffee when I came out the room. "Thank you," I said

yawning. "Is Sara going to get her memory back?" I asked.

"Catherine, amnesia is tricky. Most of the time, it's when not if she remembers. All I can say is continue to tell her stories and show her pictures," Sasha explained.

"Could you keep an eye on her, I told her I would be here when she woke up. I don't want

her to freak out if she doesn't see me," I said as she nodded.

I drove to Nancy's hoping to get a shower and eat before droping Lindsay off.

"Good lord Catherine, did you sleep in those clothes?" Nancy asked as I walked

in.

"Actually, I did, that was my assignment last night, take care of Sara," I

explained.

"I guess that means Gil doesn't have a problem if you date," Nancy said.

"Mommy!" Lindsay yelled coming in the room.

"Morning sweetie, how did you sleep?" I asked giving her a hug.

"I had a dream last night that we were a family again," she replied.

"That's great Linds. Nanc, I'm going to get a shower before taking Lindsay," I said heading for the bathroom.

I dressed in the emergency clothes that I keep over here just in case.

"Mom, I don't think showing off your boobs is going to help Sara remember," Lindsay

said noticing my cleavage.

"Holy crap Catherine, are you trying to kill the girl?" Nancy asked.

"Hey, Sasha told me anything could trigger her memory," I explained.

"And you think if she sees your cleavage, everything will come back to her?"

Nancy asked.

"Maybe I have magic boobs," I said smiling. Nancy and Lindsay both burst into laughter hearing me say it. I gave Nancy a hug before Lindsay and I headed out. "I'll be here after school so you can spend time with Sara," I said giving her a kiss before she left.

CHAPTER 8

Sara hasn't called which means she isn't up yet. I quietly opened the door

and sat in the chair she was facing. I smiled when she started to stir, and I

had forgotten how cute she looked when she wakes up. "What do I have funny

hair?" Sara asked.

"No, you look beautiful," I said giving her a kiss.

I saw her glance down and notice my cleavage. "Are those for me?" Sara asked

as I turned red.

"Sasha told me that it could be anything that triggers your memory," I explained.

"So, your plan was to show me your cleavage, and I would remember. What are they magic boobs?" she asked starting to laugh.

"Magic boobs," Sasha questioned hearing the last bit of conversation.

"Yeah apparently, Catherine thinks they are the missing piece to me remembering," Sara

said still giggling.

"Holy shit Catherine, if I thought I had a shot. I wouldn't mind finding out how magical they are," Sasha said noticing my blouse.

"I guess since you guys are making fun, I'll button up," I said pouting.

"Sorry, I'll stop teasing," Sara said as Sasha checked her vitals. I gave her a

kiss after Sasha left. "I told Lindsay that she could come visit after school if

that is okay with you?" I asked.

"Hang out with the little version of you, oh the punishment," Sara said sarcastically.

"You're a riot," I said as someone knocked.

"Come in," Sara said as Gil walked in.

"Ladies, how did we sleep last night?" he asked.

"Great thanks to you letting Catherine stay with me," Sara said smiling.

"Your welcome Sara," Gil said sitting down.

"I leave you guys to talk. I need to talk to Sasha anyway," I said touching

Sara's hand as I left. Luckily I ran into her grabbing a cup of coffee. "Sasha,

I need to pick your brain about a some things," I said.

"Let me guess, it has something to do with a certain brown-eyed brunette," she said chuckling.

"Wow, everybody is a comedian today," I said.

"Sorry, what can I do for you?" Sasha asked.

"So what is next for Sara?" I asked.

"We will probably keep her here for a couple more weeks and then she'll only have to come back to get the casts removed," she explained.

"Thank you, I think I should get back before Gil puts her to sleep," I said

smiling.

"Your welcome and if there is anything you need just page me," Sasha

said as I headed back.

I heard laughter as I opened the door.

"Hey you're back, did you find out what you needed to know?" Sara asked.

“Yeah, everthing is good," I said smiling nervously.

"I'm going to take off.I'll see you later, Sara," Gil said kissing her forehead.

"Thanks for coming Gil," Sara said.

"Keep up the good work," Gil whispered in my ear as he kissed my cheek. I blushed when he did this, and I saw Sara smile when she caught it.

"What was that about?" Sara asked.

"I don't know if I should tell you since you were teasing me this morning," I said smiling.

"Please," Sara said pouting.

"Lindsay would be impressed with your use of the bottom lip. Gil just told me to

keep up the good work," I said sitting down.

"He seems nice, but a little odd," Sara said.

"You have no idea," I said smiling.

"I showed Gil some of the photo albums, and he was glad that we both

found someone to love," Sara said smiling.

"I still do you know," I said.

"What's that?" she asked.

"That I still love you Sara Sidle," I said as Lindsay walked in.

"Hey munchkin, how was school?" Sara asked.

"Good, Mom did I hear you say that you still love Sara?" Lindsay asked.

"Yeah sweetie, I did," I said picking her up.

"Catherine, I would really like to return your feelings, but I'm not

there yet. Although I have started to have feelings for you," Sara said smiling.

I turned to see Nancy walk in with a stern look on her face. "Lindsay, your

mom and Sara aren't going anywhere. You didn't have to run up here," she said.

"Sorry, I won't do it again," Lindsay said apologizing.

"Good afternoon Nancy, how are you?" Sara asked.

"I'm good Sara, thanks for asking," Nancy said sitting down beside me.

"What do you need Nanc? I know your favor face anywhere," I asked.

"I can't watch Lindsay until later, I have a date," Nancy said smiling.

"I'll do it," Sara chimed in.

"Sara, I can't let you do this. Lindsay is a ten-year old bundle of energy, and you're not a hundred percent," I said.

"Mom, I won't be a problem, I promise. I can help Sara plus there is the

other bed, and who else can you get on short notice," Lindsay said.

"Fine, but if I hear you caused any problems. You will be in trouble," I said. Nancy and I

left Lindsay with Sara to find Sasha to explain the situation.

"I'll make sure someone checks on them every couple hours," Sasha said.

We walked back to the room, and Linsday put her finger to her mouth. I noticed that

Sara had fallen asleep, so I walked Nancy to her car. When I got back to the

room, I smiled noticing Lindsay had also fallen asleep.

CHAPTER 9

"Now Lindsay remember Sara is injured, so no horsing around," I said.

"I know Mom. We'll be each others babysitter," Lindsay said.

"Sara, call me if you have any problems," I said giving her a kiss.

"Catherine, I know. Now why don't you leave so Lindsay and I can talk about you," Sara said kissing me back.

"Fine, just remember that I love you both," I said leaving.

Well work was fun, I got to investigate who blew up the lab. I came to find

out that it was me. Greg was injured, but thankfully not severely. Plus, I

received a nice five day suspension from that bag of shit lab director, and I

get to tell Greg that it was me that blew him up.

I sat beside his bed waiting for him to wake up. I was hoping that Lindsay

was on her best behavior last night. "Hey Catherine, what do I own the pleasure?

Did you find out who blew up the lab?" Greg asked.

"I did," I said explaining what happened.

"It's not your fault, and I don't blame you," Greg said touching my hand.

"Thanks Greg, now I get to explain it to your best friend and Lindsay," I said

nervously smiling. I kissed his forehead and let him get back to sleep. I made

my way to Sara's floor, and Sasha was smiling at me.

"What did she do?" I asked.

"Nothing, she was a sweetheat," Sasha said.

I opened the door and smiled at what I saw. Lindsay and Sara were both asleep and

holding hands like Sara and I had done the first night I slept here.

Lindsay woke up and put her finger to her mouth to keep me quiet. I didn't

want to wake Sara up so I took off my shoes and joined Lindsay in bed. She

cuddled into me after I laid down. I sensed I was being watched before I opened

my eyes.

"Morning gorgeous, how was work?" Sara asked.

"I accidently blew up the lab, injured Greg, and got a five-day suspension," I said explaining the whole story.

"But Greg is going to be alright?" Sara asked.

"Yes he is," I said.

"Well then I agree that it wasn't your fault," Sara said touching my hand.

"Can I go see uncle Greg? I figure you two want to kiss or something,"

Lindsay said.

"Lindsay!" Sara and I said at the same time.

"Are you saying that you won't be kissing if I leave?" Lindsay asked.

"Fine, just make sure Sasha takes you down," I said as Lindsay left laughing.

"She wasn't too much trouble last night was she?" I asked.

"No, she was like a mini-nurse. If I needed anything, she made sure I got it," Sara explained.

"I should have figured as much when I saw Sasha smiling when I came in," I said.

"Catherine, we are going to kiss, right. I wouldn't want Lindsay to be

wrong," Sara said smiling.

"Boy, you know how to woo a girl," I said kissing her. We were too ensconced in making out that we didn't hear Nick and Warrick come in.

"You know you might want to break this up before you pass out for the lack of

oxygen," Nick said laughing.

"Do I have the words 'tease me' written on my forehead this morning?" I asked blushing.

"Sorry, but it's been awhile since we last teased you. I can just imagine what you two will be doing for the five days," Warrick said joining in.

"You do know if you don't stop teasing, I can make sure you can't visit.

Sasha is very protective of Sara, so if I tell her you guys are causing

problems. She will make sure your banned," I said seriously.

"Okay, we'll stop," Warrick said as I started laughing.

"You're just mean," Nick added.

I gave them both hugs as they were leaving. "What is it Sara?" I asked

noticing the look she had.

"This sucks. I know you guys love me, but I can't remember," Sara said sadly.

"You will, I promise," I said kissing her.

"See I told you they would be kissing," Lindsay said coming in with Sasha.

"Hey sweetie, how was your visit with Greg?" I asked.

"He's funny, I had him laughing when I told him that you two were up here kissing," Lindsay said.

"Yeah, he is. Thank you Sasha for making sure Lindsay got there safely," I said

kissing Lindsay.

"Oh please, Lindsay is an angel," Sasha said smiling.

"Maybe you should take her for a couple days, and you might just change your mind," I said smiling.

"Mom!" Lindsay said.

"Sorry Linds, I'm just kidding," I said giving her a hug.

CHAPTER 10

"Well, I'll leave you three to hang out. Remember to page me if you need

anything," Sasha said leaving.

"Catherine, you should get some sleep. That is the third time you've yawned since Lindsay came back," Sara said.

"Yeah Mom, we'll keep the volume down on the TV," Lindsay said taking my hand and walking me to the bed.

"I think I should watch how much time you spend with Sasha. You are starting

to act like her," I said laying down.

"Sweet dreams Catherine," Sara said as I winked at her. When I woke up, I saw that Lindsay and Sara had fallen asleep. One of the other nurses came in to check on Sara and smiled when she saw Lindsay

asleep on Sara.

I picked up one of the photo albums. I was flipping through it and came

across a picture from Lindsay's last birthday. I was sitting on Sara's lap and

her chin was resting on my shoulder while we watched Lindsay open her presents.

I didn't realize I was crying until a tear hit the page.

I wiped off the page and my face as I shut the album.

"Catherine, what's wrong?" Sara asked.

"Nothing," I said hoping to avoid any discussion.

"You don't honestly expect me to believe that do you? I can see that your eyes are glassy.

What made you cry?" she asked.

I showed her the picture and told her the story behind it.

"Aren't you the one that keeps telling me that I'm going to remember?" Sara asked.

"Yes, but when I see pictures like that it just sucks that you can't enjoy them with me," I explained.

"Okay, here's what we'll do. The next time Nancy takes Lindsay, you and I will look through these, and you can tell me stories about them," she said.

"Thank you," I said kissing her.

"Ahem," Lindsay said interupting us.

"Sorry sweetie, we were finishing our discussion," I said.

"Funny, it looked to me that you were making out," Lindsay said laughing.

"Oh, you're a riot," I said poking her in the stomach.

"What are you smiling at?" Lindsay asked Sara.

"You guys are hilarious. I love spending time with you guys," Sara said.

"We like spending time with you too Sara. Mom, I need to use the bathroom," Lindsay

said.

"Okay sweetie," I said watching her leave.

"All by ourselves, whatever shall we do?" Sara asked smiling.

    "Poker, maybe?" I inquired.

"Only if it is strip poker," Sara said winking at me.

"Sara! Where is the hormones on parade coming from?" I asked.

"I don't know, but I seem to have an itch needing scratched," she said grabbing my hand.

"Whoa, Sara slow down. At least not while Lindsay's here," I said kissing her.

"Okay, but maybe we can take care of this later," Sara said.

"Count on it," I said as Lindsay came back in.

"Wow, I come back in the room, and you're not making out," Lindsay said laughing.

"You're cruising, young lady," I warned.

"Sorry, I just like the look on your face when I tease you," Lindsay said giving

me a hug.

We decided to watch some TV before dinner. Sara has been thankful that I got

Sasha to let me get real food sometimes. I looked over to Sara, and she was

asleep again. I turned down the volume a little so not to wake her up. Lindsay

looked back to me, and I pointed at the sleeping Sara.

Nancy walked in and was about to say something. She saw Sara sleeping and

motioned me to join her in the hall. "I'm here to pick up Lindsay. I found

outyou were suspended for blowing up the lab, and I figured you and Sara could

use some alone time," Nancy said.

"Wait, how did you find out I was suspended? You were on a date when it

happened which means you're dating someone I know. Who is it?" I asked smiling.

"Catherine, your my sister and I love you, but I want this to myself for now,"

Nancy said.

"Fine, I'll let it go for now," I said giving her a hug.

I walked back into the room, and Lindsay was ready to go. I gave her a hug

and kiss and walked them out. I needed to talk to Sasha about Sara's problem. I

went to the nurse's station, but she wasn't there. I had the young lady there

page her. I sat outside Sara's room to wait.

I wasn't paying attention when a hand touched my shoulder. "Catherine, is

something wrong?" Sasha asked looking worried.

"No, no. Sara has a problem that she wanted me to help her with," I explained.

"What kind of problem?" she asked sitting beside me.

"To use her words, she has an itch needing scratching. Don't get me wrong, I

want to help, but I don't want to risk her health," I explained.

"Catherine, Sara having an orgasm will not cause any problems. Let me check her vitals, and you can help her out," Sasha said trying not to laugh.

We walked in together, and Sara gave us a look seeing this. "Is there a problem?" she asked.

"No baby, it's okay. I ran into our favorite nurse after saying goodbye to Nancy and Lindsay," I said kissing her to calm her. I held Sara's hand while Sasha was checking her over.
