What the hell am I doing? I'm a shy twenty year old college student. What the
hell do I know about taking care of a kid? Of course I told him I would help, I
mean he is like an icon in his field, plus there is that tiny hero worship
crush I have for Gil Grissom.
He is here for a seminar that I of course attended. Apparently, one of his new collegues is going through a rough patch, and he thought
she could use some time away from Vegas. She brought her two year daughter, and
he wants to take her to nice dinner, hence Sara the baby sitter. Thankfully, my
roommate is elsewhere tonight, so I don't have to put up with her antics.
I straightened the room up for the third time when there was a knock at the
door. I took a quick peek around to make sure there wasn't anything the little
girl could get into. I opened the door and found Gil with this drop dead
gorgeous strawberry blonde holding the cutest little blonde girl I had ever
seen.
"Hello Sara, this is Catherine Willows and her daughter Lindsay.
Catherine, this is Sara Sidle," Gil said introducing us. Catherine and I
shook hands as I let them in. As I shut the door, I saw the best looking ass
ever.
As I was listening to Catherine's instructions, I think she caught me checking
her out. She just smiled and went on with what she was saying. Before Catherine
and Gil left, I bent down to Lindsay's level and introduced myself, and she
surprised us all by giving me a hug.
After they left, I let Lindsay pick what she wanted to do. She picked up her
cartoon tape, so I put some juice in her sippy cup
before popping the tape. When I sat down on the couch, Lindsay crawled up in my
lap. I pressed play as the cartoon started.
I don't know when I fell asleep, but I woke up to someone knocking on my door.
I tried to get up, but Lindsay had fallen asleep on me. I gently stood up while
holding her to my chest. I checked the peephole and saw that it was Catherine
and Gil. I opened the door, and when Catherine saw Lindsay asleep on my
shoulder, her whole face lit up.
"She's never done that with anyone but me. What's your secret?"
Catherine asked still smiling as she picked up Lindsay's bag.
"I don't know. We just watched her cartoon, and she climbed on my lap and
fell asleep," I said smiling back. Oh yeah, I'm going to have nice dreams
tonight starring my new friend.
I was about to hand Lindsay back to Catherine, but she made a noise, so
Catherine just had me carry Lindsay down to the car. When I sat her in the car
seat, she woke slightly, but I gave her a kiss on the forehead telling her to
go back to sleep. I got her buckled in, and when I turned around, I was
enveloped in hug from Catherine. She whispered a thank you in my ear as Gil and
I did our customary hand shake as they got in the car and drove away.
I know I'll probably never see them again, but then again you never know.
Sooner or later something has to go right for me, right.
