With only four days left, Lindsay was already getting excited about Wednesday evening. Of course, it helps that she knows Sara and I are trick and treating with her. Although, it took both of us to make that happen. It all started about a week ago.

After Nick's kidnapping and subsequent finding, I made an effort to become more civil to Sara, and we slowly became friends. The woman who said she isn't good with kids is full of crap because the first time she came over to dinner, she and Lindsay bonded instantly. After that, Sara would take Lindsay places - the zoo, the planetarium, the movies. I occasionally tagged along, and Lindsay loved those times even more. It was then when I started to see the other side of a woman who I had worked with for six years, and it made me feel something that I hadn't felt since Stephanie.

I knew Lindsay was going to ask her about a week ahead, and I made sure I wasn't around, so Sara couldn't try to get out of it, even though I knew she wouldn't. Under the guise of an early call in for Nancy, Lindsay was dropped off at the the lab, and add Sara's need for caffeine while Lindsay stays in the break room until I could take her to school. According to Linds, Sara said yes, but I had to go costume shopping with the two of them which ended up leading me to ask Sara to go trick or treating with us.

So last Saturday the three of us headed to the mall, and the first Halloween shop we went into was your run of the mill traditional one with masks and very overdone costumes, but the second one was a clothing costume shop, so I let Sara and Lindsay go off by themselves while I went to look for my costume and Sara's too. I found hers right away, but I also found the one I wanted her to wear, so I bought mine and Sara's real one before taking the Little Boo Peep costume with me as I tracked my girls down. I waited until Linds wlked into the changing rooms before coming up behind Sara.

"Hey Sara, I found your costume," smiling as I held up the VERY adult outfit.

"No way am I wearing that!" Sara gruffed as I gave her a wink.

"I thought you'd get a kick out of that, but no worries, I already got your costume," leaving her to think while I returned the gag costume.

I had the owner hold my bags as I headed back over to see what Lindsay and Sara picked out. I came up from behind again to see Lindsay in a fairy princess costume. The dress was styled like the old time ball gowns, and she looked beautiful. I kept back watching Sara make sure everything was perfect. I just love watching these two together, and I'm hoping that since we're both off, and it's not a school night, Linds and I can talk Sara into spending the night.

Without too much hassle, Sara did spend the night. We had a little slumber party except without the hair braiding, and Sara's sweet tooth made an appearance with the movie fare she brought along with a couple movies. She also came over a little early to make us dinner, and instead of a regular tossed salad to go with her baked ziti, she made this devine cucumber salad that even Lindsay ate. I think it was mainly because Sara made it, but she did finish the bowl she fixed. And to top that the next morning, Sara made breakfast.

The next night at work, I hadn't seen Sara at all, we just kept missing each other. I was hoping to give her the time to come ove for trick or treating, but I didn't, so I headed for the locker room to grab my things to go home. I opened my locker and looked at the pictures of Lindsay I had up. One was from her first Halloween, she had dressed like a frog. I wish I had a picture of her lumberjack costume from when she was eight. She had been watching that skills competition on ESPN, so plastic chainsaw and all, she was a lumberjack.

I closed my locker and jumped since I hadn't seen Sara standing there, "Good lord Sara, you scared the shit out of me!" smacking her arm and then seeing the blood on her forehead, "Sara, what happened?" grabbing a tissue from my purse to wipe it off.

"Don't worry, it's fake blood," she said fighting the urge to laugh as I punched her arm.

"Damn it Sara, I thought you were honestly hurt. That was just mean," smacking her again for good measure.

"Now that was fun," she giggled before kissing my cheek, "I'm sorry, but it did stop Grissom from asking me to work a double, so I could cook breakfast for my girls," giving me her sweet gap tooth smile while grabbing her stuff from her locker.

"Okay, but I want these banana pancakes that Lindsay keeps talking about," she gave me a nod before we left the locker room holding hands.

Sara and I took separate cars to my place which was probably a good thing considering our locker room teasing. I thought about asking Sara to just sleep in the guest room, so she wouldn't have to come back, but I didn't want to make her uncomfortable. I made it before Sara, but I wasn't real surprised since I asked for her 'famous' pancakes. Lindsay met me at the door and gave me a hug before looking behind me.

"Sweetie, she's coming, but she probably had to stop at the store because someone asked for her banana pancakes," smirking as I scooped Lindsay up giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"Mom, you are going to love them," Linds said wrapping her around my neck.

"That's exactly why I asked for them," sitting Linds on the couch, "I'm going to do a quick clean up, so if Sara comes, let her in," at her nod, I headed upstairs to get out of my work clothes.

I felt grimy after taking my clothes off, so I took a quick shower and pulled my hair back seeing I wasn't going to be up much after breakfast, and since it is Halloween, I put on the lounge pants that Lindsay got me a few years back. They are black and orange with pumpkins and black cats on them and the words BOO! and creepy. I didn't put a bra on, so I went with a loose tee, so I wouldn't be flashing Sara my nipples during breakfast. As I headed downstairs, I heard the unmistakable song 'Monster Mash' song being played, but what I saw when I came in the room was the sight of Sara and Lindsay dancing along, so I just leaned in the doorway and enjoyed the show. After the song was over, Sara gave me a blushed smile before going into the kitchen while Lindsay came over to me.

"You should join us next time Mommy," as I picked her up nodding heading for the kitchen, "Do you think we should ask Sara to sleep here this morning since we are trick or treating later?" Linds asked the same question I pondered on the way here.

"Can't hurt to ask, right?" at her rapid nodding, I walked us into the kitchen before sitting Lindsay in one of the island chairs, "Sara, we were wondering if you wanted to sleep here since the three of us are going out later," Perfect. Add Lindsay so it doesn't look like I'm the one asking.

"Phew, I was going to ask at work, but we never saw each other until we left, and I didn't want to just drop it on you. And yes, I will. Thank you both for the invitation," Sara said going back to mixing her batter.

Lindsay was right about Sara's pancakes, and for once, I was glad Linds was a talker. She let Sara and I in on the goings on of her school, and once breakfast was over, she sent us both to bed while she loaded the dishwasher. I of course gave the usual speech about what she should do if anything were to happen, and when I finished, she nodded before pointing upstairs. Sara gave me a wink before we slightly stomped up the stairs giggling. Sara had just opened her door when I remembered her costume.

"Wait a second Sara, I almost forgot," opening my door and grabbing her bag from the costume shop, "Here, I hope you like it," as I returned her wink before closing my door. I got her Batgirl because I didn't think she would be comfortable as Wonder Woman.

When the alarm went off, I shut it off before knocking on Sara's door and going to check on Lindsay. I found her dozing on the couch, so I nudged her awake, and once she noticed it was me, she took off for her room while I left to start coffee before going upstairs to become Wonder Woman, and when it was done brewing, Sara came in the kitchen wearing her costume.

"So do I owe you any favors?" asking as I took in how it clung to Sara's body. Although, I really wanted to see how her butt looks, but I'm thinking that might tell her something.

"No Catherine, you don't owe me any favors. If anything, I want to thank you for picking this because I was looking at silly costumes, and I can't wait to see what you picked out for yourself," Sara explained as I gave her another wink along with a smirk before leaving the kitchen and heading upstairs.

I wasn't thinking about my costume as I was putting it on because if I did, I might chicken out consiering the amount of skin I was showing. After putting the bracelets on and attaching the golden rope to my hip, I checked myself out in the mirror and knew this was the night that I would find out if Sara and I shared the same feelings for each other. I opened my bedroom door and headed back downstairs where I got the butt shot I wanted because Sara was touching up Lindsay's costume. When Lindsay saw me, she tapped Sara on the arm and pointed to me as Sara stood and turned around.

"Wow," was all Sara said standing there with her mouth open slightly. Well, we'll see if the 'Wow' means anything later when Lindsay goes and spends the night at her friend's house.

Since we lived in such a tight knit neighborhood, Lindsay got a nice four square block trick or treat swath. Plus, it gave Sara and I both chances to steal glances at each other. We also talked a little shop and some future ideas that Sara had doing with Lindsay. It was almost dark by the time we made it home, and I thanked mom for handing out candy while Sara and I took Lindsay out, and before she left, she snapped a picture of the three of us, but something tells me by the time we get back to work on Friday, Greg will have it plastered everywhere.

Lindsay knowing the rules dumped her spoils in the candy dish before running upstairs to change. Sara followed while I headed into the kitchen for a cup of coffee. Then, I took off the high-heeled knee length boots before carrying them and my coffee into the living room. I sat down on the couch and put my feet up on the coffee table just as Lindsay came barreling down the steps smiling.

"I talked Sara into spending the night, so tell her already," she said smirking before answering the just knocked on front door, "Bye Mom," she sent over her shoulder with a blown kiss before shutting the door. I walked over and looked the door before heading upstairs and knocking on Sara's door.

"Come in," she said from behind the door, and when I opened it, I was speechless, "I seemed to have lost my sheep. Will you help me round them up?" Sara asked standing in front of the bed wearing the gag costume from the costuem shop. I just smiled kicking the door shut. I guess Lindsay isn't the only one getting treats tonight.
