CHAPTER 1

I was supposed to be able to sleep in today, but Catherine came in five
minutes ago telling we had an important meeting at the lab in a hour. It must be
Lindsay rubbing off on me because I haven't moved since Catherine left.

"Sara Sidle, you get your ass out of that bed or I am going to dump a bucket
of cold water on you," Catherine yelled seeing that I haven't made any progress.
I decide to call her bluff, so I give her the finger while smiling. She mumbled
something before shutting the door once again. I rolled back over to get more
sleep.

"What the hell!" I yelled jumping out of bed.

"I told you to get up, and I warned you what would happen if you didn't. Now
get dressed and meet me downstairs for breakfast," Catherine said giving me a
kiss and handing me a towel before heading back downstairs.

I decided not to blow dry my hair in case it might incur the wrath of
Catherine. I headed downstairs after getting dressed and running a brush through
my wet hair. I walk into the living room, and Nancy and Lindsay are on the couch
laughing, probably at my expense.

I walked into the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee and found Catherine bent
over in front of the refrigerator. I think it is time for a little payback. I
quietly walk up behind her and ran my hand up her thigh and I cupped her center.
I must have surprised her because she banged her head on one of the shelves.

I was smiling as she turned around rubbing her head. By the look on her face,
I think I have dug my hole a little deeper. I guess I will be doing some serious
groveling for awhile. I grabbed my cup of coffee and headed in to sit with
Lindsay while Catherine finishes up.

Lindsay was telling us about what has been going on at school during
breakfast. Probably due to the fact that the grownups aren't talking. Nancy is
trying to lighten the mood, but she keeps giving Catherine dirty looks. Nancy
and I cleared the table after breakfast, and I told her that if she did the
dishes I would fix her sister.

I go back into the dining room and find nobody there. I walked into the
living room, and Catherine is sitting on the couch with her face in her hands.
'Shit', the call from Grissom must have been more than just a meeting. I sat on
the coffee table in front of her trying to figure out what to do.

"Honey, I'm sorry for being such an ass this morning. I was on my feet all
night last night, and I really wanted to sleep in, but that is no excuse for
being difficult," I said kissing her forehead. Catherine pulled me into her lap
wrapping me up in a bear hug.

I tried to see if she knew anything else about the meeting, but it seemed she
didn't. I guess I will have to wait and see. Arriving at the lab, I hurried out
my side to open Catherine's door and offer my hand to help her out. She locked
the doors, and we walked inside holding hands.

-------------------

I am sitting here with a stunned look on my face taking in what Gil just told
us. Grissom now has Ecklie's old job because Conrad was fired. Apparently he was
sleeping with one of the city councilman's wives.

Gil told Catherine that she will be running day shift, and Warrick will be
running nights. He told Nick, Greg, and I that we were allowed to pick whichever
shift we wanted to work on. I of course picked Catherine while Nick chose
Warrick. Greg told the guys he was sorry, but somebody had to do work on days so
he joined Catherine and I.

Grissom explained to Catherine, Greg, and I that we would get an extra day to
get acclimated to the time change. Greg stayed with the guys while Catherine and
I decided to go home. I drove us home thinking that we have to have a
celebration dinner. As we pulled into the driveway, I noticed Lily's car.

Catherine and I looked at each other wondering what is up. I lock up the car
as headed towards the house. I gave Catherine a kiss telling that I was proud of
her. We were in the middle of the kiss when the door opened with Lindsay making
gagging noises. Catherine picked her up as we went into the house.

Lily and Nancy were in the kitchen drinking tea when Catherine and I came in.
I poured us a cup as Catherine told them the big news. While they were hugging,
I thought that my surprise was going to be the biggest of the week.

CHAPTER 2

After telling them our good news, I motioned Lily to join me outside.
Catherine gave me a look, but I waved her off by blowing her a kiss. I don't
really want to talk to the man, but seeing that he and Lily are seeing each
other. I have to make an effort to be civil with Sam at least for Catherine's
sake.

"Lily, I need you to keep Catherine busy for a while because there is
something I need to take care of. If Catherine asks where I went, tell her it
deals with her anniversary present," I explained hoping she wouldn't fish for
more information.

"Okay, but you know she is going to call you while you are gone," Lily said
as I gave her a hug before heading to the car.

I called Sam's cell phone to find out which casino he was at so I wouldn't
have to spend all day tracking him down. He told me he left my name at the desk
so when I got there, I would be escorted to his office. When I pulled into the
parking lot, I started to get a little nervous.

I finally made it to the front desk after making my way through the throngs
of people. I told the receptionist that my name was Sara Sidle, and I had a
meeting with Mr. Braun. She instructed me to head up to the penthouse suite that
he was expecting me.

"Miss Sidle, what do I owe this impromtu visit. I was under the impression
that you didn't like me very well," Sam said showing inside.

"Be that as it may, but since I am seeing your daughter, and her happiness is
the most important thing to me. Plus I have become very fond of Lily so I am
making an effort, but that is not the reason why I am here. I'm here to ask for
your blessing to marry Catherine," I said smiling.

"Okay, I will give you my blessing as long as you have the ceremony at my
ranch. On a personal note, I am glad to see Mugs finally happy, and as long as
she is, you won't get any objections from me," he said offering me his hand. I
shook it, and as he walked me out he said if there was anything I needed, don't
be afraid to ask.

On the way home, I stopped at a flower shop to get my girl some roses. I
popped in my Beethoven CD when I got back into the car hoping it would help me
relax. I look at my phone to make sure that I haven't missed any calls. I wonder
how they got Catherine not to call me, I guess I will find out when I get there.

I opened the door as I entered the house, but I didn't here any noise. I toss
my keys on the table before heading out back. I look out the sliding glass door
seeing that Lindsay is putting on a show. She catches sight of me, but I signal
her not to announce my presence. I quietly open the door and sneak up behind
Catherine and kiss the top of her head.

She got up from her chair and came around to give me a kiss. I handed her the
flowers, but not before I took three out and giving one each to Lily, Nancy, and
Lindsay. Catherine gave me another kiss asking if she could have a hint to her
surprise. I picked up Lindsay and headed back inside leaving her to stew while
Lily and Nancy laughed.
----------------

The next morning, Catherine started breakfast while I grabbed a shower. We
switched places after I got dressed. Lindsay came in looking a little a tired. I
went over and picked her up to give her a kiss on the cheek. She wrapped her
arms around my neck and mumbled a thank you in my ear.

I helped her set the table before handing her her plate. I was pouring her a
glass of juice when Catherine came in. I handed her a cup of coffee as I pulled
out her chair. Catherine told Lindsay that one of us would try to be there when
she got off from school, but if not her aunt or nana would be there.

Catherine and I took care of the dishes while Lindsay got her stuff for
school ready. I gave Lindsay and Catherine a kiss before heading for the lab. I
told Catherine I would wait for her in her office until she got there.

When I pulled into the lot, I noticed that Greg's car is here. He is probably
already hitting on any girl he hasn't met yet. I open the door to Catherine's
office and find what I guess is the rest of our team. Greg comes up and gives me
a big hug and asks where Catherine is. I inform him that she had to drop off
Lindsay first.

I sit behind Catherine's desk seeing that the couch is full, and Greg is
sitting in the chair at the front of her desk. I look at the three other people
and notice they look familiar, but I can't put a name to any faces.

Finally Catherine shows up, and we make with the introductions. I know
Catherine wants to tell them about us, and I give her my okay. They don't seemed
all that shocked, but it is good to get it out in the open first. She tells us
there are two cases so we are to split up into groups of three, but she will
call if anything else comes in.

Thankfully, I was paired with Greg and Andi, who just arrived from St. Louis
a couple weeks ago. On the way to the scene, I was asking how she was getting
along in Vegas, but I wasn't getting much. Although, she opened up after I told
her that I know how she is feeling because I have been there.

Greg pulled in right beside us when we arrived at the scene. I noticed
Detective Vartan was waiting for us as we walked up. He told us that it wasn't a
pretty sight inside. The vic was male with multiple stab wounds. I had Andi get
witness statements before joining us inside. I walked inside, and it all came
back.

I heard my kit fall to the floor before I fell to my knees distantly hearing
Greg call my name.

CHAPTER 3

I know I'm at a scene with Andi and Greg, but it feels like I'm back in my
childhood home. I feel myself being picked up and getting placed in my car. Even
being away from the scene, I can't seem to snap out of it. I hear Catherine
whisper in my that it is going to be okay.

I'm now being help into a house, probably Catherine's, but of course I have
no clue. I can hear Catherine talking to someone before hearing the door shut as
I feel Catherine put her hands on my cheeks.

"Sara, I saw the scene, and I know what it looks like, but it's not. I need
you to focus on my voice and come back to me," Catherine said lightly kissing my
lips.

I close my eyes as Catherine kisses me and open them to find her looking at
me a little concerned. I pull her onto my lap hugging her and whispering an
apology for scaring her.

"Baby, don't worry about it. I have Nancy picking up Lindsay, and my mom is
coming over in case you need anything and before you complain I just want you to
relax," she said as we headed for the bedroom.

"Okay, but I want you to bring Andi by after work so I can explain what
happened today," I said telling her how I told Andi that I've been in her shoes
being the new girl.

Catherine gave me another kiss before tucking me in telling me to try and get
some sleep. I pulled her down for a deeper kiss before I rolling over. When I
woke up, my arms were wrapped around someone, but it wasn't Catherine because it
was too small. I opened my eyes to find Lindsay curled into me.

I laid there watching her sleep and thought how much she is like her mom as I
feel her starting to shift. "Hey sleepyhead, needed a nap too, huh?" I said
giving her a hug.

"I'm glad you are feeling better Sara, Nana told me you had a hard case
today," Lindsay said as I was glad Lily vagued up what happened this morning.

I gave her a kiss on the forehead as I climbed out of bed. I had to pick
Lindsay up and carry to the living room since she was looking at me with her
puppy dog eyes. As we left, I looked at the clock noticing that I had about an
hour before Catherine got home.

We walked into the kitchen finding Lily and Nancy drinking tea. I sat Lindsay
down as Nancy poured me a cup. I think Lily saw that I was about to apologize
and interupted me telling me this is how families take care of each other.

"It's good that you feel that way because there is something I want to ask
all of you. I'm asking for your blessing to ask Catherine to marry me," I said
as Lindsay jumped off her chair and into my lap wrapping her arms around my
neck.

"Sara, I haven't seen Catherine this happy probably since Linds was born.
There isn't anybody else that I would want for a daughter-in-law," Lily said
kissing the top of my head before putting her glass in the sink.

"Sara there is no need to ask, I've long considered you a sister. Hey, does
this mean we get to do some ring shopping?" Nancy asked bouncing up and down in
her chair.

Lindsay was laughing at how her aunt was acting until I deflated her sails by
telling her that I was going to use my grandmother's ring. I was telling them
what I needed them to do to help with my plans as the front door opened. I saw
her and Andi come in laughing about something. I gave Catherine a hug as she
introduced our new guest.

Catherine squeezed my hand as I took Andi into the backyard and explain why I
acted the way I did this morning. I notice she was acting strange as I told her
how I grew up. After finishing my story, I told her if she wanted to talk about
anything that she could talk to me or Catherine. I gave her a hug before we
headed back inside.

Catherine gave me a look as we came back in, but I assured her that
everything was okay. Lily invited Andi to stay for dinner and before she had a
chance to protest Catherine and I insisted that she stay. Lindsay of course
decided to start in with twenty questions and surprisingly Andi played along.

CHAPTER 4

The next couple days were fine. I explained to the rest of the team why I
reacted the way I did. I wanted to get it out in the open before any gossip got
started about it. They surprised me by completely understanding without
question.

Well today is the day. I'm having Nancy keep Lindsay for tonight so I can
propose to Catherine during dinner. I have spent the whole morning touching the
ring box in my pocket nervously as I was setting things up.

I can't believe Catherine hasn't found out considering I've been a spaz since
I got her family's blessing. I'm also surprised that Lindsay hasn't accidently
said it or dropped hints to what I have planned.

As I finish setting the table, I see that I need to go pick up Catherine from
work. I turn the radio on the way to block out the internal ramblings going on
in my head. I smile when 'Honky Tonk Badonkadonk' comes on and visualized the
swagger Catherine's ass has when she walks.

My phone rings as I'm waiting for a green light. I figure it is Cath seeing
if I'm on my way. I look at the name on the phone and see that it is Lindsay's
school.

"Hello, Sara Sidle speaking," I said noticing the light turn green.

"This is Nurse Jones from the junior high, I'm calling because Lindsay had an
accident during PE. They were playing volleyball, and she collided with another
girl and landed on her arm. We sent them both to the hospital to get check out,"
she explained as I turned on my siren to get to the lab faster.

I thanked her for calling as I tossed my phone in the passenger seat as I saw
Catherine waiting for me when I pulled in. I offered her my hand as we headed
for the hospital. I'm rubbing my thumb over her hand as I weave through traffic.
I drop her off outside the entrance before looking for a spot to park.

I don't see Catherine when I come in so I decided to ask the desk nurse where
Lindsay Willows was. I make my way to x-ray and find Catherine with her face in
her hands. I whisper that it is going to be okay as I had her sit on my lap so I
could wrap my arms around her.

Lindsay comes out with her arm wrapped up and smiles seeing that her mom is
making a bigger deal out of this than it is. The doctor follows behind Lindsay
with her x-rays which show that Lindsay broke her wrist. I feel bad for her
knowing how long she is going to be in a cast.

I am holding both my girls' hands as the doctor is putting the cast on
Lindsay's arm. Thankfully Catherine has calmed some since we have been here. She
rests her head on my shoulder as I kissed the top of her head. I look up and
smile at Lindsay as she makes a gesture with her ring finger. I shake my head as
she lips an 'I am sorry'. I shake my head again kissing her cheek.

I carried Lindsay out to the car telling her we would stop off for ice cream
before going home. I told Linds what flavor to get me as I pulled out my phone
to call Nancy about the change in plans. I tell her that I'm still planning on
asking when we get home if she wants to throw an impromtu party.

We ended up taking a walk through the park while we ate our ice cream. I
convinced Catherine to sit on a swing so I could push her. I handed Lindsay the
disposable camera I keep in my purse so she could take a picture of her mom. I
think between the ice cream and swings, Catherine finally let go of her nervous
tension.

On the way home, I was getting a little nervous. Every once in a while, I
would see Lindsay smiling at me in the rear view which in turn made me smile. I
pulled in the driveway and helped Lindsay get out so she could go in first to
make herself scarce until I ask.

Before we went inside, Catherine leaned me against the car and gave me a kiss
thanking me for taking care of them. I kissed her back as I took her hand and
led her in the house. I followed behind her so I could get the ring out before
she turned around.

"Sara, what is with the romantic dinner setting?" Catherine asked turning
around seeing that I was on one knee with an open ring box.

"Catherine, I never really knew what love was until I met you and Lindsay,
and I thank god for bringing you guys into my life. Catherine Elizabeth Willows
will you marry me?" I asked starting to cry.

"Sara, I fell in love with you the first time I saw your beautiful brown
eyes. Yes Sara Anne Sidle, I will marry you," Catherine said as I placed the
ring on her finger.

CHAPTER 5

"Yeah!" Lindsay screams running in the room with a wrapped present. I look
over at Catherine, but she shrugs her shoulders not knowing what is in the box
anymore than I do.

We ripped open off the paper while Lindsay was bouncing up and down beside
us. I give Catherine a wink, and she knows what I want to do. We were taking
turns picking little pieces of paper off the box while Lindsay was starting to
get frustrated.

"Just open the box...please," Lindsay yelled as Catherine and I started
laughing after hearing Lindsay finish her statement with a please. I popped open
the lid and found a couple white shirts. I hand Catherine one as I unfolded mine
and it read 'World's Greatest Mom'. I pull Lindsay into a hug thanking her for
my present.

"Sara, the shirt is a gag gift. I think this is our real presents are these,"
Catherine said handing me a bracelet box with my name on it. I open it and find
a gorgeous emerald bracelet, my birthstone. I see that Catherine has one with
hers.

"Nana, Aunt Nancy, and I picked them out," Lindsay said giving us both hugs.
I gave Lindsay a kiss on her cheek as I pulled us all up off the floor. I
started to clean up when Catherine said she was going to take a shower.

I put my shirt on over my clothes making Lindsay laugh. She helped me put on
my bracelet as we sat down on the couch. We were in the middle of an episode of
Scooby-Doo when the doorbell rang.

I opened the door to find Nancy and the rest of our extended family.  I let
everyone in as I went to the bathroom to give Catherine the heads up on our
house guests. She laughed when she saw what I did with my shirt. She dragged me
into the bedroom so I could help her get dressed.

"Honey, we have a house full of friends being entertained by our daughter,
and as much as I would love to make your eyes roll back in your head, I am going
to give Lindsay a hand while you change," I said giving her a kiss.

I stopped in the bathroom to take some of my layers off, but I kept Lindsay's
on. I head down the hall to find Lindsay telling everybody about her trip to the
hospital. Lily comes up to me giving me a hug, and I see that she brought Sam
with her.

I am talking with Nick and Wendy when I felt Catherine wrap her arms around
me. She kissed me on the neck whispering in my ear that there will be payback
for earlier. I got a smirk on my face that Nick wanted explained, but I told it
was an inside joke.

I was talking to Andi while Lily and Nancy were talking to Catherine. Andi
was telling me the case she caught with Scott last night. While I was listening
to her, I would occasionally glance up and catch Catherine smiling at me.

The party was starting to thin out, and Nick and Warrick left first since
they had to work tonight. Greg stuck around to help clean up when I noticed that
Lily and Sam were still here. I have a feeling that they have something to give
Catherine and I.

I noticed Lindsay was starting to fall asleep on the couch so I picked her up
and carried her to her bed. When I came back in, I saw Catherine was sitting in
the chair in front of Lily and Sam. I sat on the chair arm wrapping my arm
around her shoulder.

"Catherine, Sara, I know you don't want to make a big thing out of your
engagement and wedding, but Sam and I talked it over and decided that we would
combine our gifts," Lily said handing us a small box.

I was holding the box as Catherine lifted the lid. We found two sets of keys
to what I'm guessing is a house. I looked at Catherine and then at Lily and Sam.
Lily said they would keep an eye on Lindsay while we went to look at the house.

Catherine and I were speechless as we made it up the driveway of our new
home. I can tell that Lily picked this house because it wasn't flashy like
something Sam would like. It was perfect for Catherine, Lindsay, me, and...
