CHAPTER 1

I swear these people are the dumbest smart people I know. They are investigators by trade, and they don't see it. I know Mr. Grissom has only been gone a few days, but I've seen what it has done to her. With Aunt Nancy's new schedule, she drops me off here, and either Mom or one of my uncles take me to school. Sara has done it a few times, and that is how I knew something was different.

Sara is different than the rest of the people mom works with. I never 'adopted' her as an aunt because our relationship was never like that. She was my friend. She was there for me when dad died and told me to call her whenever I needed to talk and couldn't talk to mom about it. I never asked Sara if she and Mr. Grissom were dating because I know she likes her privacy.

I noticed things between them the first couple times I was dropped off, but didn't think too much about it. Until, the one time they came into the breakroom together, and I noticed the slight touches while I was 'doing' my homework. I was happy for Sara because I don't think I have ever seen her that happy. I wish mom could find someone to make her that happy.

When Mom told me that she would be running the shift for awhile since Mr. Grissom was taking some time off, I started to worry about Sara. I couldn't tell mom, and I couldn't call Sara, so I gave mom a smile and hugged her. I also knew if Sara was sad, she would just throw herself into work because that is what she does when she is trying to avoid dealing with the actual problem.

If I sound like a shrink, I'm not surprised since I have been seeing one off and on since dad died, so being the smart girl I am, I pick some things up. The first couple days after Mr. Grissom left I didn't see Sara, but I saw her yesterday, and I hate to say it, but I was right. She looked like she hadn't slept all that much, and I started to worry. I know Mom wants to spend the day with me at the carnival, but I want to take Sara to show her that there are still people who care about her.

I know her and mom haven't always been the best of friends, but after Uncle Nick's kidnapping, they made a better effort to work things out in a more productive manner. I texted mom first to see if she was open to the idea of company today, and then if she was, I would ask Sara if she wanted to come. Mom surprised me by replying back that it was a good idea.

I knew if I asked Sara directly she would say she was too busy, so I texted her that I needed her help with something. I poured her a cup of coffee to help with the asking. When she walked in, I sat back and smiled as she knew that I was up to something.

"Sara, I already asked mom, and she said it was okay. I would like you to come with us to the carnival, so will you come with us, please?" I asked pulling out my best pout.

"Linds, you suck. Yes, I'll come, so put the lip away," Sara said hugging me before sitting down and taking a drink of her coffee as we waited for mom. I know this won't fix the hurt that Sara is feeling, but who knows what this day will hold.

CHAPTER 2

I had Sara sit in the back with me on the way to the carnival. We would occasionally laugh about something we were talking about, and Mom would throw back one of her 'Mom' looks that didn't work on either of us. If anything, it made us act up more. That is why Sara is my favorite of all the people that Mom works with.

Sara isn't like the rest of them because when she talks to me, she treats me like an adult, and when we are goofing, she act as childish as me. I think that might be because her childhood wasn't that great. I think Mom likes this side of Sara too because she pretty much just sees the business side to Sara.

The first thing I made us do when we got into the carnival was get our picture taken in one of those booths. It was a little cramped, but I had Mom sit on Sara's lap while I sat on Mom's. Then, I spent the rest of the day dragging them to every ride. Well, I drug Sara, Mom seemed to have fun watching us, but Sara and I got her a couple throughout the day.

Before we left, Sara won me a stuffed monkey. I know I'm too old for stuffed animals, but since Sara won it for me, I loved it. I got an evil look from both of them when I told them the monkey's name was Sara Catherine, but made up for it by telling that I named it after my two favorite people. I think I made Sara cry when I said that, and Mom and I let her collect herself on the way back to the car.

On the ride home, Sara fell asleep. From talking to her earlier, I knew she had the next couple days off, and I didn't really want her to go home alone to an empty house. I don't know if Mom will let her stay, but I could always ask.

"Mom, Sara fell asleep. Can we take her home, and I don't mean that in a dog way. Besides, her car is still at the lab, so you would have to take her to get it, and since she is off tonight, maybe she can stay with us," I said smiling.

"Lindsay, I was going to do that anyway, and yes if she wants to, she can stay with us tonight," Mom said smiling back to me through the mirror.

Mom handed me the keys while she took care of Sara. I opened the door all the way since Mom was helping Sara walk. I don't think Sara is totally awake, but she is enough that Mom isn't completely dragging her. I closed the door and ran ahead of her, so I could open Mom's bedroom door. I watched as Mom lightly laid Sara down before taking off her shoes as she walked back over to me.

"Okay sweetie, I'm going to take a nap too, and if Sara wakes up and wants to go home, just wake me, but if not, order pizza when you start to get hungry, and then come wake me, okay," Mom said as I just hugged her before walking over to Sara and putting the monkey in her arms.

I walk back down the hall to the family room with a smile on my face. Yeah right, if Sara wakes up and wants to go home, I'll just pull out the lip and guilt her into staying. I stretched out on the couch and clicked on the TV going through the channels until I found something to watch.

CHAPTER 3

The first thing I realize is that my nose itches. I bring my hand up to scratch and end up with something cold up my nose. Then, I hear laughing. I open my eyes to find both Mom and Sara rolling around on the floor laughing. I taste it and realize it is whipped cream. I look on the table and spot the can of Redi-Wip.

I know that I can only get one of them before the other one takes off running, and I know it was probably Sara's plan with Mom just helping. I decided to get the instigator, so I grabbed the can and jumped on Sara while she was still on the floor. Then, I just let loose with a stream of cream that landed on Sara's face.

Sara flipped me over wiping her face all over me while I heard Mom continuously still laughing. Sara and I both looked over to her as Sara whispered in my ear her new plan. I handed her the can as we got up. Mom noticed that we were looking at her, and she took off running.

I checked downstairs while Sara headed upstairs. I checked all the rooms and closets but didn't find Mom, so I headed up the steps to see if Sara had tracked her down. What I saw at the top of the steps made me smile, Mom and Sara were in the hallway kissing, but the funny thing was that they both had whipped cream coming out the top of their shirts. I headed back downstairs to give them privacy and order the pizza.

After calling in our order, I grabbed a towel and wiped off my face before sneaking upstairs to change my shirt. I didn't see either one of them when I got upstairs, but I did hear the shower running. I quickly changed my shirt and got downstairs before I saw something that will scar me for life. Sure, I love them both, but there are things I don't want to know about.

When the doorbell rang a half hour later, I yelled up the stairs that the food was here, and all I got was a wallet thrown down the steps. I checked the peephole to make sure it was the pizza guy before opening the door. I paid him and brought the pizzas in before setting the table. I was eating and looking through Sara's wallet when they both came down.

They both had smiles on their faces until Sara saw that I was looking through her wallet. She grabbed it and tapped me on the head with it before sitting it aside. I know if I want them to tell me anything, I'm going to have to be the one to bring it up, but I wait until after dinner to see if they say anything before I do.

Well, dinner wasn't a complete bust. I found out that Mom had talked Sara into staying the night, but she would have to stop by her place to get some stuff first. Sara insisted on taking care of the dishes, so I took Mom down the hall to the family room to find out what was up. After a few of my bad choices, Mom and I decided to tell each other everything, but the only catch was we had to ask. Mom uses it daily, but this would be the first time I would even try.

"Mom, I saw you and Sara upstairs kissing. Is there something going on between you two?" I asked smirking.

"Yeah, but we want to sit you down together," Mom said as she and I walked back towards the kitchen

CHAPTER 4

The ride over to Sara's was sort of quiet which means 'the talk' is happening when we get home. I have some idea what is going to be said. They are going to tell me that they like each other and that they are going to wait until uncle Gil gets back before starting anything serious, and of course, check and make sure that I am okay with it.

Please, Sara is the best partner that Mom has ever been with. Dad loved me, but I knew he sometimes hit mom, and after that she just had guys here and there. The worst was that complete asshole Chris. I don't think Mom has ever been with a woman, probably because nobody would measure up to Sara. Now I know Sara's past because when dad died, she told me that she knew how I felt, and then told me her whole story. I can honestly say that I don't think I would have made it through that like she did.

While Sara and Mom were in the bedroom, I decided to play some Madden football while I waited. Greg bought Sara the system last year for Christmas, and I think she only plays when either he or I are around. I was halfway through the first quarter when they came out looking flushed. These two are acting like a couple of teenagers. I swear the first time they tease me about me kissing, I'm throwing this in there face.

I decided to listen to my iPod on the way home since we weren't going to talk yet. I watched the way they were interacting in the front seat. I smiled when I saw that they were holding hands and at the occasional glance. Maybe, I can milk some gifts out of them if I said that I need time to process their new relationship, but mom taught me better than that, so I won't.

When we got home, Mom and Sara went upstairs to put her stuff in Mom's room while I decided to put my sleepwear on. I know it is still early, but I don't plan on going anywhere else tonight. I walked back down stairs and found the two of them sitting on the couch looking a little tense. Before they start, I decided to save them the trouble.

"Okay guys, I'm going to make this easy on you. Yes, I am okay with the two of you, and I understand that you want to wait until Mr. Grissom comes back before taking things further, so can we get this sleep over going or what because I really want to braid Sara's hair for payback of the practical joke," I said smiling holding a bag of hair bands.

I almost started laughing at the look of shock on both their faces. They must really think I don't pay attention, yeah right. When your family is either a cop or a CSI, you learn to pick up on things. I went over and gave them both a hug and kiss before going to the kitchen to get something to drink, so they could digest what I just told them.

I came back in with a bottle of water for both of them only to find Sara. I handed her one as I sat beside her. I guess I'm getting a talk anyway, and I have no idea what this one is going to be about. Sara waited a few minutes before saying anything which means Mom isn't coming down just yet.

"Somehow I'm not surprised that you knew that there was something between me and Gil even though the others had no idea. I just wanted to let you know that I won't purposely hurt your mom, and yes, that is why we are waiting. I want to tell Gil myself that it is over before getting to serious. It wouldn't be fair to either of them," Sara said handing me the hair bands before sitting in front of me.

When Mom came back down, she started laughing when she saw that Sara was letting me braid her hair. I started laughing when Sara motioned Mom to sit in front of her as I handed Sara the rest of the bag of hair bands as we started watching the first movie.

CHAPTER 5

The two weeks before this one were great. Mom, Sara, and I did everything together. I had to smile thinking about how I watched Sara open up the more time she spent with Mom. She actually was a mediator in a couple arguments Mom and I were having. Even if it wasn't the outcome I wanted, I was glad Sara was there. That was until this week started.

It started okay, but the closer it got to the day Mr. Grissom was coming back, I could see Sara starting to distance herself from Mom, and it was killing Mom. I did the best I could to keep Mom's spirits up, but I think she is afraid that when Sara sees him again that she will be alone again.

Sara called me the morning that Mr. Grissom was due back telling me that she would be over as soon as it was done. Which in teenage-ese means, there is going to be some adult things going on. I know about sex, but when you think about your parents doing it, it is different somehow. I mean I love Mom and Sara, but I'd rather not know what they do together unless it is that cute cuddling thing I always catch them doing.

Since I know Sara probably won't be here until later, I planned a whole mother/daughter morning and afternoon starting with breakfast in bed. I have tried this before, and it always ended with something burnt, but since Sara has been teaching me, I have gotten way better. I know Sara isn't comfortable with public displays of affection, so I normally hug, kiss, or tell her that I love her when it is just her and I.

Another thing that has picked up quickly were my grades. I was mainly coasting through my classes, and when Sara found out, she wasn't real happy with me. She knew I could fool Mom, but I couldn't bullshit her (her words, not mine). She also made sure that no matter what happened between her and mom that she would always be there for me, day or night.

The best part of them getting together has been the spoiling. Mom and I have been getting presents here and there from Sara, and while Mom was fighting her on them, I was loving it. The best was when Sara brought flowers, and Mom and I both thought they were for her, but they ended being for me. Mom ended getting a necklace with a microscope pendant that she loved.

I tucked the paper in my waistband as I picked up Mom's breakfast tray and headed upstairs to her room. I knew today was going to be bad, but I wasn't going to let Mom wallow in her room. I kicked open her door and saw that she was still sleeping and knew I was going to be in trouble for what I was about to do.

I sat the paper and breakfast on her end table as I walked over to the window. When I whipped open the curtains, I heard a word that I had only heard my dad use. I burst into laughter after she saw what I did and went on a five minute apology rant. I accepted her apology, but only after making her put five dollars in the swear jar.

After breakfast, we spent the day in the family room watching movies. I avoided love stories, so that left animated movies. I realize that some animated movies have love stories in them, but it isn't the same as when you see it with real people. After going through both Ice Ages and all the Lilo and Stitches, we were going to start a Lion King marathon when the doorbell rang.

I gave Mom a kiss as I ran down the hall to the door. I checked the peephole before opening it to find Sara looking a little sad. I gave her a quick hug before taking her to where Mom was. I made sure they were going to be okay before I went upstairs. After shutting my bedroom door, I pulled out my iPod and put my headphones in before clicking on my computer to surf the net. I figure they will find me when they are ready.

CHAPTER 6

I don't know how long I was on my computer, but when my stomach growled, I knew it was time to eat, and since I haven't seen Mom or Sara, it is up to me to find something to eat. I left my headphones on as I went downstairs as a precaution. I grabbed a water from the fridge before checking the pantry.

I found stuff for spaghetti, so I started the pasta water before checking the fridge for salad fixings. I grabbed everything but the tomatoes before getting a couple spices that I was going to put in the sauce. I also checked the freezer and found that Mom had some cheese bread. I read the instructions before starting to chop the veggies for the salad.

I had just slipped the bread into the oven when I heard voices coming down the hall. I was stirring the sauce when Mom and Sara came into the kitchen wearing pajama tops and boxers. Well, I guess Mr. Grissom is out of the picture now and good because both Sara and Mom deserve to be happy. Mom came over and kissed the top of my head before grabbing plates to set the table.

I swear these two are acting like teenagers. I haven't had a boyfriend yet, but I have seen the way my friends and theirs act around each other with the looks and the sly hand holding, and that is exactly how they are acting. I think it is cute, but I won't say it because I know how Sara is with some things. After I mixed the pasta with the sauce, Sara took it to the table, and Mom grabbed the bread from the oven as I grabbed us all waters.

"So Linds, you want to get some ice cream after dinner?" Mom asked as I giggled at the thought of them trying to set up the conformation talk. I swear they must think I'm like every other teenager and don't pay attention to what is going on around me. Yeah right, I was raised by a CSI mom and watched growing up by my CSI 'aunts' and 'uncles'.

I was glad that dinner conversation consisted of making weekend plans together, and after dinner, Mom told me to watch some TV while her and Sara did the dishes. I kept the volume low enough to see if I could catch any of what they were saying, but all I heard was laughing. I found an old Mythbusters to watch until they were done.

The ride to the ice cream parlor was fun. We all sang to the songs on the radio, and I was smiling the whole time because Mom and Sara were holding hands across the console. I wasn't surprised when Mom took our ice cream orders leaving Sara and I in the car. As soon as Mom's door shut, Sara turned towards me.

"Lindsay, I know I told you that your mom and I were going to wait until Gil got back before seeing each other, and I just want you to know that I won't intentionally hurt your mom, and we won't forget about you because I know how much you mean to her," Sara said as I had to wipe a tear away. I knew pretty much what she was going to say, but hearing it is another story.

By the time Mom made it back, I was sitting in Sara's lap while she had her arms wrapped around me. Mom climbed in the back seat with us as she handed us our ice cream smiling. I know she knows what it was about, so she didn't say anything. We ended up eating our ice cream listening to the radio.

I was yawning badly on the ride home, so when we walked in the door, I gave Sara a hug and kissed her cheek before hugging and kissing mom, but not before whispering in her ear that I loved her. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth before changing into my pajamas and climbing in bed.

CHAPTER 7

Okay so when Sara and Mr. Grissom were seeing each other, no one knew, but slowly but surely they all found out about Mom and Sara, mainly because from what I hear from Greg, they kept getting caught kissing. I think they were surprised that that guys handled it so well, except Greg. I swear sometimes he is like some of the boys at school.

The only problem I had was that Sara was starting to overdo the togetherness. I mean I love them both, but it seemed we were always doing something together. So, I took Sara aside and ended up explaining how I was feeling. We came to an understanding, and everything has been great with us ever since.

School has been good, but recently, it changed. This new girl Abby showed up, and I don't know, there is something off with her, but I can't figure it out. I tried talking to her, but she isn't real talkative, so my friend Lexi and I decided to befriend her and make sure Kirsty and none of her sheep bothered Abby.

Lexi and I finally got her talking a little, but only after I almost got into a fight with Kirsty. I was glad Mr. Patterson was close because I knew between Kirsty's mouth and my temper, she was going to get decked, and if that would have happened, I would have been grounded for quite awhile.

Now that Lexi and I have gotten Abby talking regularly, there is still something that I can't get past. I would talk to Mom or Sara about it, but if I don't know what is wrong, I can't explain it to them. I decided when I got picked up today that I would ask if I could have a sleepover on Saturday with Lexi and Abby. Maybe if they see her, I can ask them what it is.

I told them both at lunch my plan, and I was happy that they were both hoping that it would be okay. I was glad that my after lunch classes flew by since I wasn't really concentrating too hard on what was going on around me. When the final bell rang, I had both of them stay with me, so I could tell them yes or no.

I spotted Mom and Sara right away. One thing I was happy about was they were finally over that teenager phase. Now, it is one or the other holding the other. Sara has been teaching me photography, but most of pictures lately have been of them in cute postions. I decided to pull out all the stops and let loose with my best puppy dog look.

"What?" they both asked at the same time.

"Um... I was hoping that I could have a sleepover tomorrow with Lexi and Abby?" I answered with a question of my own.

"As long as it okay with their parents," Mom said as I hugged them both before making my way back over to my friends.

I was thrilled later on when they both called and let me know they both could come. I finished my homework after dinner because I didn't want to end up wasting my Sunday by doing it then. I had Sara check my Math and Science while Mom was checking English and History.

Tonight, I was sharing the bed with Sara while Mom was working. I also told Sara to keep an eye out for Abby during the sleepover and see if she notices anything odd. I tried to explain what I thought, but she told me that she would see if there was anything. I took my usual position as Sara wrapped her arms around me before I fell asleep.

CHAPTER 8

I woke up Saturday morning before Sara did and went to my room to clean it up. Sure Lexi knows I'm a complete slob, but I don't need Abby knowing that fact just yet. I actually cleaned it too, not the shove it in the closet or under the bed routine. As I was finishing up, I heard laughing from the doorway, and I looked up to see Sara laughing.

"What is so funny? Mom is always asking me to clean my room," I said putting my hands on my hips trying to look upset.

"Well yes, she does, and you never listen. So is all this for Abby's benefit, I mean she is going to find out you are a pig sooner or later," Sara said still giggling as I walked and lightly punched her in the arm.

I double checked my room as I heard Sara say she was telling as she went down the hall. I knew I had a few hours before they got here, so I decided to see what Sara was cooking for breakfast to ask if we could go to the zoo or something today. When I hit the living room, I knew Sara was making blueberry pancakes.

I know her and Mom have only started dating recently, but Sara was always my favorite. When she first started, I was seven, and I thought she was cool because of how she treated me, and now at fifteen, I see her more as a second mom. She is the one I can turn to if there is something I need to ask or say, and I don't want Mom to know right away. I was standing in the doorway watching her cook, and when she turned around, I walked up and gave her a hug.

"Now, this is a sight I like to see when I get home from work. My two favorite girls in a hug," I heard mom say before I became the meat in a sandwich hug. I took one of my arms and wrapped it around Mom.

We spent breakfast talking. Mom was talking about the cases she caught last night, and Sara, of course, brought up the fact that I cleaned my room, and that she was going to take us out, so Mom could get some sleep before the sleep part of the sleepover. After eating, I offered to do the dishes, so they could do whatever before my friends showed up.

I turned the radio on when I started to make sure I didn't catch a stray noise from the parentals. I have overheard at school that when people have sex that the noises get a little loud. Ick, I love them both, but I don't want to know what they are doing. After drying the last dish, I went into the den to watch some Saturday morning cartoons. Granted, they weren't new cartoons because most of them suck, but thankfully, Cartoon Network shows Scooby-Doo on Saturdays.

I don't know how long I was watching TV, but when I heard the doorbell, I ran for the front door. I whipped it open to find Abby standing there with her bag, and while I was letting her in, Lexi and her mom pulled in. I gave Abby directions to my room while I waited for my other friend. We both waved at her mom as she drove away before going to see if Abby found my room okay.

----

After today, I am not joking with Sara about being old because she kept up with us the whole day. I mean we went to the zoo, the planetarium, and the mall, and she never stopped to rest. Plus, I think I'm more tired than she is. When we walked back into the house, we were hit with a wonderful smell. While Sara went to the kitchen, we went to my room to drop off our spoils.

We all crashed out on my bed to wait until dinner was ready. We were laughing about some of the funny things we saw today especially at the zoo when we saw the zebras mating. I smacked Abby in the arm for bringing that back up. I had so much fun today that I hope we can do this more often. We were just laying there when Mom popped her head in telling us dinner was ready.

After dinner, Mom and Sara went to their room while the girls and I went to the den to watch movies before going to bed. I pulled out the pullaway bed from the couch while Abby and Lexi chose the movies. About halfway through the third X-men movie, I started nodding off. When I woke up the next morning, I felt a head on my chest. I opened my eyes to find that it was Abby's. I didn't feel Lexi behind me as Abby woke up and smiled at me before lightly kissing my lips.

"Girls, breakfast is ready," I heard Sara say as I smiled at Abby as we got up while I was trying to figure out if what just happened just happened.

CHAPTER 9

I let Abby know I would meet her in the kitchen after I went to the bathroom. I walked in and just sat down on the toilet trying to figure out what the kiss meant this morning. I mean don't get me wrong, as kisses go, it was one of my better ones, and I didn't not like it, but what does it mean. I took a couple deep breaths before heading to see what was on the menu for breakfast.

My plate was already sitting in front of my seat when I walked in, and thankfully, Mom was asking Abby and Lexi about their day yesterday while Sara and I just ended up listening while my mind was still racing. There is one drawback to my Sara is my favorite person to talk to. She knows when something is wrong or up from my body language, my facial expressions, or my lack or overabundance of talking, but the good thing is she won't bring it when there are a lot of people around.

Both Abby and Lexi's parents came to pick them up after lunch. I gave Abby my email address, so we could talk when we weren't in school. I hugged them both when they left and went straight to my room afterwards. I turned on some music and grabbed my laptop to keep me distracted, so I could try and not think about Abby and the kiss for thirty seconds. It isn't like I haven't seen girls kiss. I mean Mom and Sara do it all the time, but does that mean I'm a lesbian.

Since the distractions weren't happening, I closed my laptop and laid down on the bed. Was it just a friendly kiss? Or was it something else? I mean I have never kissed Lexi, but then, I don't have those feelings for her. Abby is a different story because everything is relatively new. I also knew that I was going to have to talk to someone before school, or it could lead to some unfortable situations.

I shut off my stereo and went to see if Sara was busy, and I know she would want me to tell Mom, but I want to figure it out before I talk with her about this. The good thing is that Mom trusts Sara, so she knows if it is serious, Sara would tell her. When I came downstairs, I found Mom asleep laying against Sara, so I gave Sara the head nod hopefully letting her know that I wanted to talk now. I watched as she carefully made sure Mom didn't wake up as she got up as she followed me into the kitchen.

"Sara, I need your word that Mom won't hear of this until I tell her because something happened this morning that has me driving myself crazy trying to figure it out. When I woke up, and you came in and said breakfast was ready, Abby woke up and smiled at me before she kissed me," I said as I explained what has been going through my head all day.

"Lindsay, I promise I won't tell your Mom. Now with regards to the kiss, I can't tell you what to do. All I can tell you is follow your heart. If you like Abby, that is fine, and if you only like her as a friend, that is fine as well, but you have to figure that out for yourself. Just know that your mom and I will love you no matter what," Sara said as I walked over to her and kissed her cheek as I gave her a hug.

I ended up running upstairs and getting back online to see if Abby was on. I figure it might be easier for both of us to talk if we aren't looking at each other. I went straight to my mailbox and saw that I had a message with the subject of 'Sorry'. I clicked on that one first in case it was Abby, and it was. This is what it said:

Lindsay,

I'm sorry if I embarassed you or upset you with what I did when I woke up. It is just that you have been so nice to me, and I thought you might have the same feelings for me, but if you don't, I'll understand if you don't want me to hang around you as much. I just wanted to send you this to let you know where I was coming from.

Your friend, Abby

Okay, so that explains that, and she is leaving the ball in my court, but the only problem is that I don't know what to do with it. I do know that I don't want her to hang out with me less because I don't have that many close friends, and she and Lexi are my closest. I decided I needed to reply to at least tell her where I'm at figuring this out.

Abby,

I want to first apologize for making you feel uncomfortable with my attitude after our kiss. Yes, it did throw me, but I didn't not like it, it made me think. I don't really know what that means, but I do know that I don't want you to think that I don't want you around because I think the more I am around you, the clearer things will become. We'll talk more at school tomorrow,

Your friend, Lindsay

CHAPTER 10

I stayed online for about fifteen minutes waiting to see if I got a reply, but when I didn't, I signed off and climbed onto my bed. Oh no, what am I going to tell Lexi, and what happens if she doesn't want to be my friend anymore. Plus, there is the whole discussion with mom I have to deal with. I just hope she takes it as well as Sara did.

I grabbed the book I had been reading to just think about something else for awhile. After a couple pages, I realized that my concentration wasn't there, so I turned on my radio and just laid there. I started to go over how I wanted to explain this to Mom because I knew I had to tell her before I decided anything with Abby. I just hope it doesn't lead to one of our classic fights.

"Linds sweetie, dinner's ready," Mom said shaking me awake as I turned over to her smiling face as I decided to bite the bullet.

"Mom, before we go downstairs there is something I need to tell you. This morning when I woke up, Abby kissed me on the lips, and before you say anything, it didn't freak me out. If anything, it interested me, and then later, I got an email from Abby apologizing for doing it because she thought I was upset, so I replied back telling her that it just surprised me, and we could talk about it at school tomorrow," I explained lowering my head a little waiting for the worst.

"Lindsay, I don't know what to say. I'm not upset with you, but I want you to think extremely long and hard about this because the results of your decision could cause you alot of pain. Sara and I love you and will stand behind whatever you decide," Mom said sitting on my bed and pulling me into her lap hugging me.

I don't know how long we were up here, but I felt Sara hugging me from the other side. I smiled feeling so much love from the two people I care about most. Mom brought us out of our family hug by getting us downstairs before dinner got cold. We didn't talk all that much during dinner since Mom and I already had our big discussion. After dinner, we all snuggled on the couch until I got dropped off at Aunt Nancy's while Mom and Sara went to work.

When Aunt Nancy woke me up the next morning, I got dressed before heading down for breakfast. I didn't feel the need to tell her yet since it won't involve her just yet. Mom and Sara are different since we are living in the same house. Although, her and Jeremy both were sort of looking at me when I didn't say anything through breakfast which will lead to her asking Mom what is going on with me.

Mom and Sara came in, and I rushed over to give them both a hug. Jeremy and I both grabbed our bags and headed for the car when I saw Mom tell Sara to take us to school. Mom gave me a look as I nodded letting her know that she could tell Aunt Nancy if it came up. The ride to school was quiet too, and when we pulled up to the school, Sara squeezed my hand as I gave her a kiss on the cheek before getting out.

Jeremy ran towards his friends while I headed for the place where Abby and Lexi have been meeting me. Lexi's back was to me, and when Abby saw me coming, her eyes lit up, and when they did, I felt butterflies in my stomach, and I fought the urge just to walk up and kiss her. I ended up just walking over and hugging them both before going inside. I knew the first couple classes were going to suck, but study hall should give Abby and I a chance to silently discuss things.

I was surprised that concentrating in class wasn't harder, but after Sara's lecture about school, I have been paying attention more because I don't want to disappoint either her or Mom. When the bell rang after history, I grabbed the next couple classes' books before heading to the library for study hall. Abby was waiting for me at the entrance as we headed towards the back to avoid the rest of the class. We sat down at a two person table as I started.

"Abby, I don't know if you read my email, but I spent the rest of the day thinking over my feelings, and I liked how it felt when you kissed me, so if you want to see how are our feelings develop, I'm open to it," I said whispering, so we wouldn't get into trouble for talking.

"Lindsay, I would really like that. I was so scared after I kissed you that I thought I might have ruined one of the few friendships I had made, so yes, I would like to see where this goes," Abby said bringing her hand across to cover mine.

CHAPTER 11

The last few weeks have been interesting to say the least. Abby and I have been spending an hour after school in the library kissing under the guise of studying. I think Sara knew what was going on, but she never said so or told Mom. We were having so much fun that we didn't realize what could happen if we were ever found out. And then, it happened. Abby and I were making out in the library when Lexi came to ask me a question, but when she interupted us, I saw the tears in her eyes. I went to go after her, but she was gone as soon she left the library.

I knew once I talked to her I could explain, but when I dialed her cell, it went straight to voice mail. I walked back to Abby and told her that I just wanted to go home. She wrapped me in a hug while I called Sara to pick me up early. I asked Abby if she could come home with me, so we could actually study. She smiled before nodding as she called and got the okay from her parents.

We packed our things up and went outside to wait for Sara. I leaned on Abby because I knew there was a good possibility that I would never see Lexi again. By the time Sara arrived, my head was on Abby's lap. Sara came running over and tossed Abby the keys joking with her not to drive away as I sat up while Sara knelt in front of me.

"Sweetie, what's wrong?" she asked wiping the tear tracks from my face.

"Lexi caught Abby and I kissing in the library, and before you ask and lecture, yes, we have been kissing in the library for a couple weeks instead of studying," I explained as Sara cracked a smile.

"Really, I never would have guessed, but I'm sure once you explain things to Lexi, she will understand and continue to be your friend. How about we go home, so you and Abby can study at the kitchen table," Sara joked helping me up and giving me a hug before taking us to the car.

Abby and I both sat in the back seat holding hands while Sara spent the trip home finding every love song. Abby thought it was hilarious while my cheeks were on fire from all the embarassment. She made up for it by stopping off for ice cream before actually heading home. When we got home, Mom was laying on the couch sleeping as I took Abby's hand and started upstairs until Sara stopped us.

"As long as the door stays open, it is okay, but if I find it shut, I am coming in with my camera blazing, and then, I will post them up at the lab," Sara threatened as Abby burst into a fit of laughter as I was scowling at Sara.

"All I have to say Sara is watch your back because the first chance I get, I will make you pay for this," I said while Sara smiled feigning terror.

Abby gave me a kiss as I set up on the bed while she took the desk. We separately did our homework stopping only to ask for each other's help. As I did mine, I was thankful that it was the weekend. That way I can give Lexi a couple days to cool off before trying to talk unless she calls before that. I finished the last of mine as I sat up at the top of the pillows to just watch Abby.

When she finished hers, Abby looked over at me staring at her and smiled before joining me on the bed. She just gave me a kiss as we just snuggled on the bed. While I was holding her, I knew why Mom and Sara had that look on their face when they would cuddling. The warmth of Abby's body, the feeling of her arms around me and being able to feel her heartbeat was indescribable. Abby soon fell asleep shortly after I started running my fingers through her hair.

I woke up with the feeling I was being watched. I opened my eyes to find both Mom and Sara staring at me. I got scared when I saw that Sara was holding her camera with a big smile on her face. Mom lipped that dinner was ready, and that she called Abby's parents to okay eating over here, so I tried to nudge Abby awake. She just groaned while pushing my hand away causing Mom to snicker. I looked up, and she was pointing to Sara. That would explain why she finds Sara funny. I leaned down to her ear and whispered to her that my Mom was taking pictures of us. She shot up and looked in the doorway before giving me a dirty look, but as soon as Mom and Sara walked away, she gave me a quick peck on the lips as we headed downstairs. I knew this had the makings of a fun dinner.

CHAPTER 12

A couple hours after dinner, Abby's mom came over and picked her up. I was surprised that she gave me a goodbye kiss in front of her mom, but when her mom didn't react, I quickly returned it before shutting the door behind her. I knew there were two things I needed to do, tell Mom about my after school 'studying' and email Lexi asking her to come over tomorrow. I just hope she at least answers the email. I turned around and smiled as Sara and Mom were snuggled up on the couch. I walked over and sat in front of them on the table.

"Mom, there is something I need to be honest about Abby and I. For the past couple weeks, we have been studying/kissing in the library after school, and today, Lexi came in found us kissing and then took off. I'll accept whatever punished I have coming, but can I at least ask Lexi to come, so we can talked," I explained hoping Mom didn't react similar to Lexi.

"Linds, I can't say I'm happy about it, but I can't say that I haven't done it myself, so we'll call this one even, and as long as you and Abby don't go too fast, she is allowed to come over whenever she likes. As for Lexi, I'm sure once you talk to her, things will work themselves out. Now, how about you climb up here, and we have an impromtu family movie night," Mom said smiling as I let her know I would be back down after emailing Lexi.

After taking care of that and changing into sleep clothes, I headed downstairs and climbed into Mom's lap as she and Sara wrapped their arms around as Sara started the movie. I was surprised that they didn't torment me with love story type, but instead, we watched my new favorite, Over the Hedge. Sara and I made it through the whole movie while Mom crashed somewhere in the middle. After it was over, I told Sara to take care of Mom, and I would lock up. I came back into the living room from putting our dishes in the sink to see Sara carrying Mom upstairs.

The smile never left my face as I finished up downstairs. I don't know if Abby is the one, but I hope that when I do find that one person, they make me as happy as Mom and Sara make each other. I decided to check my mailbox before going to bed to check and see if Lexi has answered me yet, and when I went to my inbox, there was a message from her as I got nervous about opening it. I quickly click on it and was happy to see that she did want to come over. I replied telling her that any time in the afternoon was good. After signing off, I climbed into bed and picked up the novel that we are reading for Lit class to knock off a couple chapters before going to sleep.

I woke up to the unmistakable sound of a camera click. I opened my eyes to find Sara standing over me with a huge smile on her face as I tried to quickly reach up and grab it from as I got up and chased her down the steps and into the kitchen before putting Mom between her and me.

"Mom, your girlfriend was taking pictures of me sleeping," I said as Sara showed the display of pictures she shot to Mom as she started to giggle.

"Linds, you seem to forget that little threat you made yesterday about making me pay, so I decided to strike first. Abby will never see these unless you do something that causes me to show them to her," Sara said giggling as I just stomped back upstairs.

I came back down after getting dressed letting them both know that Lexi was coming over, and they promised to be on their best behavior and wished me luck. I didn't talk much while we ate because I was trying to figure out what to say. Afterwards, I did the dishes mainly to give me more time to think. They both gave me hugs before going into the living room.

"I'm going to be in my room. Will you let me know when Lexi gets here?" I asked as they both nodded before I headed up the stairs.

When I stretched out on my bed, I tried to read some more, but my mind wasn't really in it, so I decided to see if Abby was online, so we could IM until Lexi arrived. Maybe she can get me to calm down a little, but before we started, she let me know that I have to come over to dinner soon, so I can meet the family. Oh yeah, that helps. Now not only do I have to worry about talking to my best friend, I get to have dinner with my girlfriend's family. I don't how long we had been talking, but when I heard Mom yell up the steps, I told Abby, and she gave me a *kiss* for luck as I signed off before heading downstairs.

Mom pointed towards the family room when I came in the room. I took a deep breath before walking down the short hallway. She gave me a shy smile as I walked into the room. With her seemingly as nervous as me helped my nerves a little as I sat down on the ottoman in front of the couch.

"Lexi, first off, I want to apologize for you finding out that way. I really wanted to tell you, but I didn't know how you would react. That being said, I will completely understand if you need time or don't want to speak with me after today," I said dropping my eyes not wanting to meet hers.

"Linds, I was shocked when I saw you and Abby kissing, and I freaked because I thought I was losing both my friends. I don't have any problems with you two dating just as long as I don't get too ignored," she said smiling.

"Something tells me you are going to become our go between when one of us upsets the other, and you are going to have to sit us down and make us work it out," I said getting up and giving her a hug.

I ended up telling her about all the teasing Sara has been doing while we reconnected, and out of blue, she asked if the three of us could do something sometime. I let her know that I would discuss it when I was having dinner with Abby's family which caused Lexi to burst into laughter. I lightly punched her on the arm before giving her another hug. We spent the next couple hours just talking, and when she left, I called Abby.

CHAPTER 13

Okay, this is officially stupid. My parents are both freaking dancing around the fact that they both want to ask the other marry. The only reason I know this is because they took Abby and I ring shopping, and now two weeks later, neither has asked the other. I know what you are thinking. Yes, they have only been dating for six months, but they danced around each other ignoring what everyone else saw for the six years prior to that. Well, it stops tonight.

And it won't be a surprise for the guys either because I have recruited them to help while Abby and I set up an elaborant dinner. I got Sofia and Greg to take Sara somewhere. I didn't care where just as long as they had her back by seven, and I had Warrick and Nick do the same with Mom. I recruited Grandpa Brass to help get the food ordered since they would think I was just pranking them.

I sweet talked my new aunts, Wendy and Mandy, to pick up some flowers, and if you have noticed that I am completely ignoring Aunt Nancy and Nana, that is because those two can't keep a secret. Anyway for the last couple days, both Abby and I have been downloading very romantic songs and burned them onto CDs that will be playing during dinner. After the helpers starting dropping off their responsibilities, Abby and I started to set up.

Abby and I even went as far as to rent waitress uniforms for the night, so it would be perfect. We set up the flowers first before starting on setting up the courses with the last one being a platter for each with their respective rings on them and little card saying 'Ask her'. When we heard the cars pull up, Abby and I took our positions in front of the table. Mom and Sara came in together laughing, but were both agape when they found the ensconced in candlelight.

"Welcome to Chez Willows, you are our guests for the evening, so please take your seats, and we will begin the meal," I said smiling as they both played along as I watched Sara pull Mom's chair out for her before sitting down herself.

I walked into the kitchen a little nervous, but after getting a sweet kiss from Abby, I was good to go. I carried Mom's plate while Abby had Sara's, and after we placed them in front of them, we went back into the kitchen to enjoy a dinner together ourselves while keeping an eye on them making sure that we took out the next course when they finished.

After the appetizer and entree, we brought out the main course. By this time, I don't think they even remembered that it was Abby and I serving them. Abby and I took turns feeding each other our meal each time we went back into the kitchen. When I noticed that they were getting closer to finishing their meal, the more nervous I was getting because instead of dessert, they were each getting a black felt box.

After another kiss and a deep breath, we walked out with the last plates, but this time, we left the cover on as we went back into the kitchen quickly to watch the excitement unfold. The only problem was when they both pulled the covers off, they both shot me a glare that I shook off.

"Just do it," I said closing the bar barrier, so I couldn't see what was happening because if they both did it, I would hear it. When I heard the combined yes, Abby and I started jumping up and down in the kitchen.

After Abby and I's celebratory dance, I listened but didn't hear anything, so I peeked out the door, and Mom and Sara were both gone. They must have headed upstairs, so while I started to clean up. I had Abby call her mom to see if it was okay that I stayed over, and after explaining the situation, she agreed. I wrote a quick note after loading the dishwasher and put it on the fridge since that would be the first place they would be in the morning.

I quickly ran to my room to pack a bag while Abby finished the cleanup. We ended up putting the flowers in all the downstairs rooms since there were too many for just the living room. Before Abby's mom came, I made quick texts to all my co-conspirators to let them know the plan was a success.

"So cutie, do you think you'll be in trouble when you come home tomorrow?" Abby asked as I mulled it over.

"Nah, something tells me they won't even remember the meal tomorrow," I said resting my head on her shoulder.

----

Here I am laying on my girlfriend's living room holding her knowing Mom is doing the same with Sara wondering what is coming next for us. All I know is that I can't wait to find out. I kissed the top of Abby's head before laying my head beside hers as I fell asleep.

The End
