Sara has been in San Francisco for almost a year, and since she has been there, we have kept in touch by both phone and email. Lindsay and I even went there during the summer. The last month or two things have been getting serious. I thought we had made a leap in our relaionship during the trip there, but until now, I figured it was just one sided, so last week, I went to one of the local jewelry stores and bought an engagement ring. The stone was nicely sized, but I kept the band fairly traditional because I knew Sara wasn't big on fancy.

Lindsay was upset when I told her that she wasn't going on this trip, but I'm only going to be gone three days. Once I told Greg of my plan, he was more than willing to switch with me, so I could have three straight days off. Nick and Warrick know about Sara and I too, but don't say anything around the lab for the sake of Gil. I'm not exactly sure how one of my oldest friends is going to take the news that his ex and I have been 'seeing' each other and hopefully getting engaged. Lindsay is beyond thrilled about the possibility of having us together which has helped sell Sara and I to Mom and Nancy. The biggest problem with this whole thing is what is Sara going to do if she comes back.

I think I've become the comedy relief for my sister and daughter as I run around to make sure I have everything. They have gone as far as sending Mom pictures of me in my panic, "Cath seriously, as long as you have the ring, nothing else is important. You are going to be gone three days. Now leave, so Linds and I can email Sara and tell her a crazy is on the way," as I threw a stuffed bear at Nancy for her threat, but she was right, so I walked over and sat in front of both of them.

"I love you guys," hugging and kissing them both before walking over grabbing my two bags and duffle and heading out to the car.

---

I landed in San Francisco, collected my bags and headed straight for Sara's hotel. I also made sure to text Lindsay to say that I landed, but found out quickly that that was a bad idea since her, Nancy, and Mom proceeded to berate me with constant teasing texts. It did help keep the butterflies down though, and when the taxi pulled up to the hotel, I let them know I arrived and quickly got three good lucks as I ran inside and headed for an elevator to take me to Sara's private floor. I got the ring out and put it in my pocket, so I wouldn't chicken out, and when the doors dinged opened, I made the slow walk to her door and knocked.

I must have looked hurt or something because Sara whipped the door open quickly, "Catherine, is everything okay? It's not Linds, Nancy, or Lili, it it?" as I quickly kissed her to stop the barrage of questions, and before I lost my nerve, I dropped down to one knee and pulled out the felt box.

"I know we have some obstacles, but Sara Elizabeth Sidle, will you marry me?" as I watched a teary smile come across her face.

"Yes Catherine Isabelle Willows, I will marry you," she answered kneeling down with me and kissing me before letting me put on her ring, "And we don't have that many obstacles. I just accepted Western LVU's offer of making me head of their Physics Department. The only hitch is where I'm going to live."

I smiled and kissed her tenderly, "Well, I do have this vacancy on the one side of my bed," as Sara pulled me into the room.

"How long is the lease?"

"Forever."
